Instructor & Director: Glenio OliveiraGlenio de Oliveira has been teaching Brazilian ballroom dancing for 15 years. He has performed on many TV shows, theater productions and fundraising events in Brazil.
Glenio started dancing at the age of 12 with ballet classes in Brazil. Soon after he began performing in front of audiences throughout Brazil. Glenio continues to study dance with many famous Brazilian professional dancers such as Jaime Aroxa, Carlos de Jesus, Carlinhos de Jesus, Juliano Andrade, Vinicios Da Costa, Anderson Mendes and many others.
Now in Boston, Glenio has been teaching for 6 years at many different studios and clubs such as the Ryles Jazz Club in Cambridge, MAPS (Massachusetts Association of Portuguese Speakers, MIT University, and Brookline Community Adult Education Center. Currently Forro takes place every Tuesday and Thursday at Benfica in Cambridge. And starting Saturdays in January at the BCAE in Back Bay.
Glenio specializes in Brazilian ballroom dancing such as samba de gafieira and forro, but he also been teaching samba no pe (carnival samba), bolero, salsa, zouk, merengue, bachata, cha-cha, swing, and tango. Come take a class and see for yourself how fast you will learn!
Instructor & Director: Inna Podshivalova
Inna is originally from Moscow, Russia. Dance has always been her passion. Inna started with Ballet lessons and ballroom dance classes as a child in Russia.
Inna and Glenio met at Tango Class at MIT University in 2005 and since then Inna's interest in Brazilian dance and culture and started training with Glenio. Soon, Inna and Glenio's became dancing partners and began teaching Samba No Pe, Samba de Gafieira and Forro classes. They have been performing together at many social and charitable events throughout Boston. They currently host social dance parties every week for their students as well as the local dancing community. Please check back our website for party updates!
Inna currently teaches weekly classes in samba, forro, brazilian zouk, salsa and bachata. Available for private lessons upon request.
Lize Brasil - Axe Instructor & Choreographer
Lize Brasil from Salvador-Bahia and grew up listening to songs by Ivete Sangalo, Harmonia do Samba, E o Tchan, Cheiro de Amor, and Asa de Aguia. Lize has been involved in the dance world since the age of 4. From ballet to Axe, she garnered a great appreciation for music and dance. Now, she brings her knowledge of Axe/Swing Baiano to Moves & Vibes so others can experience the upbeat fun of Bahia's most popular dance style. Click here to watch Lize's Class
Gert Faber - Brazilian Zouk instructor
Gert was born in Amsterdam and has always been interested in expression through movement. He has been practicing Gymnastics for over 20 years and Wushu (Kungfu) for over 10 years. About three years ago he started Salsa dancing and became a real Salsa-addict. More recently he fell in love with Brazilian Zouk dancing and took classes from world famous teachers: Pasty, Willem Engel and Adillio Porto. Gert’s Zouk style is a mix of the styles of these teachers. Furthermore, he is adding his personal flavor to the Zouk dance by incorporating the flowing elements from Wushu and Gymnastics into the dance which really suit the sensual music style. Rajeev Hotchandani -Bachata Instructor
Known for his creative and entertaining style, Raj has been dancing since 2002. Raj initially started with Lindy Hop but has become a talented instructor and competitor in West Coast Swing, Salsa and Bachata. Although Raj is a geeky scientist by profession , he still finds time to consistently travel throughout the country to satiate his love for the dance and enhance his knowledge about various dance forms. He loves Bachata and his passion for it grew tremendously a couple years ago. Raj loves sharing his passion on and off the dance floor. Last but not the least, Raj makes sure that everyone is comfortable and having fun.
